My story: Why I Sleep with the Lights On

(This is totally true! I try to tell my mom, but she thinks I’m crazy!)

When I lived at my old house, I would have weird dreams. I was about 5 years old and I had woken up at around 3:30am. When I woke up I looked over to my vent by my closet and saw something. What I saw has scared me to death. I saw a very tall thing with it’s head looking down. It had on a black cloak with triangles cut out of the bottom, and it was floating about 2 feet above my vent! When I looked at it, it started to lift it’s head up to look at me! I was so scared, so I closed my eyes and hid under the covers. I looked again and it was gone!

Then about 6 months ago I was sleeping (in my new house with the light on) and my door was shaking. I thought it was my cat, so I went to let him in. I opened the door and no one was there, so I locked the door and tried to go back to sleep. My doorknob starts to shake like someone is trying to get in. I totally bug out! The doorknob keeps turning and the door starts to shake, like someone is trying to force open the door. I am crying about now and I start to turn on a movie. The door keeps doing that until the movie was half-way over. The door has done that once since then, but sometimes I feel like it’s watching me, because my homemade chime moves when I’m not looking… 0_o

I call him the Shadow Man

One night I was up watching a show called Ghost Whisperer with my mum when she decided to go to bed, so I sat up and watched the rest of it by myself. Half way through in the break I went to get a drink from the kitchen, when I noticed mum had turned the kitchen light off, which she never does. I thought she might have forgotten, so I walked out to get my drink, when I saw something in the corner of my eye. It was a Dark Shadow, darker than the rest of the room shaped as a man’s figure. I got really scared and ran to the
light switch and turned the light on. The Shadow Man disappeared. When I told my mum she just laughed but I knew what I saw was real. Although I haven’t seen him again, strange things still happen and once my mum said she saw a shadow of a man walk past the kitchen window, when I was outside hanging the washing out.

Silence within a tree

Annabella walked down the small, hay-covered path. Her mom was just in eye-sight distance. She kept on staring back to make sure her mom left. All she was going to do was eat her lunch she packed then go back to her mom. She finally ran to the small wooden oak tree that was at the end of the path. She laid her red blanket out and sat on it. She unfolded the paper bag and pulled out her lunch. She began to eat, when she heard a weird bird chirp. It wasn’t any of the normal ones. Not a sparrow nor a crow. She looked around, when she spotted a small owl perched on a small branch above her. She smiled. The owl dropped a small, rolled up piece of paper tied together with a red satin string. She pulled the string off and unrolled the note. She slowly read the note. “Hello. These will be the last words you read.” She panicked and grabbed her lunch. The owl hooted. With her lunch in her hang, Annabella was knocked out dead by a large fallen branch. The owl picked up the string and tied one strand of her hair to the branch. The owl took the paper and slit a paper cut in her lip. In the mist of the silence, the owl slowly morphed into a misty-like figure. It slowly absorbed Annabella’s blood while her hair was still tied to the branch. Once finished, it grabbed the branch, her lifeless body flowing in the hot, humid summer breeze. Nine days later her mother found out of the horrid murder. She grieved. More and more. She longed for her baby girls killer to be brought to justice. She waited. Waited. One day her mother, Trisha, took to her daughter’s bedroom. She pulled a thread off her daughters satin blanket, she wrapped it around a rope, and hung herself. The family of Annabella Isalms was never heard from again…

True scary personal story

I was about 12 or 13 when myself and a group of friends (4 of us in total) were sitting on some stairs. It was about 1 in the morning and we were just messing around saying scary stories. Out of nowhere I felt kind of uncomfortable… everyone stopped talking and a cold breeze came between us (and there was like black dust or something like that)… we all turned to the other set of stairs, there was an awkward silence… a black shadow (but it wasn’t really a shadow, I don’t really know how to explain it) was just standing there (we couldn’t talk or move at the moment) we couldn’t see the face or arms because it was just all black… but we saw it kind of smiling at us… in a matter of seconds it ran to the other side of the apartments and disappeared into the wall… the weirdest thing is after this happened we talked about it and WE ALL SAW IT!!! A few years later I remembered about this encounter and I told them about it… and they told me that they don’t remember it… weird right? I got really scared when they told me this… but it’s like some people say when something truly disturbing happens to you… you tend to block it unconsciously and so you “don’t remember it” and I just want to say that this truly was a scary experience for me.

Spirit of My Sister’s House

Hello, my name is Payton and I am 11 years old. This story is absolutely true.

Once, I was at my sister’s house while they were knocking a wall down ~ they just moved in. I was the age of 8… in third grade. The exact date was October 13, 2008. My birthday was the 14th. Anyways, me my cousin and my nephew (age 5 then but age 7 now) were sitting on the stairs… watching the men working on the wall. My sister was taking pictures of it. The 15th, after my birthday, we had to color Halloween things for homework. I was at my aunt’s because she invited all of the relatives over because she hired a fortune teller for the adults. Amber (my sister) was looking through the pictures that she took while at the house. While she was, she came across a picture of the wall with a ghost figure with his face all twisted. When we had seen it, we were all in shock. So, it was Amber’s turn to go in and the fortune teller had told her something about “Wall Walkers” or something. So I just continued with my coloring. That night I was in my bed, and I felt really funny. I began crying cause I was scared. I went in my mom’s room and told her. After that, I just got a drink and went back to bed. A couple months later, (About late December or early January) Amber did some research about her house. There was a man who died there. But, he had always wanted his walls in that house torn down, but, he never got to. Amber told us that. In the summer, me, my best friend Taylor, her little brother Preston, and my nephew and Preston’s best friend Joey were playing outside on Joey’s blow up water slide. Forgetting about the spirit, me and Taylor went inside to get some chips and Pepsi. We heard a huge thump and a soft cry, so, we ran outside to tell our parents and Amber. We didn’t want to tell the little boys then because they were only 6 and we didn’t wanna scare them. Our parents didn’t believe us. But Amber didn’t say anything. Later that day when Taylor had left, Joey, Amber, and my mom were outside while I was watching TV. I felt someone was watching me, and then I glanced to the stairs, and I saw that same figure running up the stairs. In about September, me and one of my best friends Hailee were upstairs in Amber’s house and we heard a huge plate crash in that room but nothing fell. Then, I glanced over to her glass dresser and seen that same figure behind us. When I turned around, I saw nobody there. One day in January, me and Joey were watching a picture slide show on Joey’s Nintendo Wii. The picture came up as the spirit, Joey asked me and Amber what it was, we both said smoke, because that’s what it looked like and Amber smokes. Ever since then I’ve been kind of creeped out. But research shows he is a good man.

The Traveler

I was about 5 or 6 when this story took place, so it was about 8 or 9 years ago. I had just started sleeping in my own bed, and I was really scared. I had been seeing odd shadows on my ceiling. I heard my bedroom door open then close, thinking it was my mom, I called out to her. I felt the big comforter be pulled off of me. I shook, waiting. I felt the sheet be pulled up and I was picked up. I clung to the woman. I finally looked up and saw it wasn’t my mom. It was a red head woman with piercing green eyes. She was wearing a forest green, studded Christmas dress. She smiled and said, “Don’t worry little one, I won’t hurt you.” She walked down the hall and set me in my parents bed. She had closed the door when she walked in. I turned around to thank her and she was gone. The freaky thing about this? My dad saw the same woman when he was 5, in Germany.
